This space features a custom designed and built in alcove by Aurora Custom cabinetry as part of a solution to the “kitchen office” The room is located off the kitchen in the Buffalo Junior League Showhouse 2009. The cabinetry gives ample room for storing paperwork, crafts, hobbies, gift wrap… The lower base cabinets are 30” deep to accommodate rolls of gift wrap, but they could just as easily be filing drawers, or pullouts for whatever is required to be out of sight yet at hand such as a printer or fax machine. The curtained windows above provide lots of storage and give a more intimate feel to the seating area. A mirror expands the space while a well scaled vintage desk gives function without taking up too much space. The small space is an example of how good design can answer some of life’s little dilemmas by giving us proper places to conduct the business of living.
